Thomas Michael Bohnert - Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland (ZHAW)

Thomas Michael Bohnert is Adjunkt Professor (Docent) at Zurich University of Applied Sciences where he heads the Research Area Service Engineering, that comprises the InIT Cloud Computing Laboratory (ICCLab, www.cloudcomp.ch) and the Service Engineering Lab (ISELab). His interests are focused on enabling ICT infrastructures, coarsely ranging across mobile / cloud computing, service-oriented infrastructure, and carrier-grade service delivery (Telco + IT).

Prior to being appointed by ZHAW he was with SAP Research, SIEMENS Corporate Technology, and ran his own ICT consultancy. He was a visiting scholar at NEC Network Research Labs, Tampere University of Technology, VTT Technical Research Centre, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. His works have been published in several books, journals, and conferences. He serves as regional correspondent (Europe) for the IEEE Communication Magazine’s news section (GCN).

He is the founder of the IEEE Broadband Wireless Access Workshop (www.bwaws.org) and holds several project and conference chairs. From 2009-1011 he was on the steering board of the European Technology Platform Net!Works and co-chairs the EC DG NET FUTURES Future Internet Cluster. Deep involvement in the design of the Future Internet Public-Private-Partnership (www.fi-ppp.eu) led to the appointment as Deputy Chief Architect, presiding the FI-PPP Architecture Board and the FI-WARE project. He is the technical coordinator of the Mobile Cloud Networking project. Thomas contributes with his expertise to several expert groups of the European Commission on the future of ICT research.


Dr. Sean Cai - Vice President, Operators Solutions,  ZTE Corporation

As Vice President of Operator Solutions, Dr. Sean Cai is responsible for innovation and new technology, as well as global marketing strategy development. He leads a team expert in ZTE’s R&D centers in the United States, working closely with major global operator to provide the latest solutions in ICT transformation. Sean regularly participates in industry forums and represents the company on the committees of numerous industry organizations on telecommunications standardizations. He is a key contributor to the development of leading 4G solutions, such as TDD/FDD LTE, multiple-antenna technologies, Small Cell, network functions and solutions virtualization, and next-generation technologies such as 5G.

Sean has over 20 years of professional experience in telecommunications industry, specializing in advanced wireless products research and ICT network solutions development. Prior to joining ZTE in 2002, he held various positions in infrastructure system development with AMCC, STMicroelectronics, and Nortel, and has been awarded multiple international patents in telecommunications.


Stefan Covaci -TU Berlin, Germany

Dr.-Ing. Stefan Covaci is senior solutions architect for future internet services platforms at the computer sciences and electrical engineering faculty of Technical University of Berlin, Institute for Telecommunication Systems. Between 1990 and 2007 he was working at GMD FOKUS (today Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS) acting as director of the competence centre Intelligent Mobile Agents. He co-initiated and participated to the agent standardisation work of OMG (Object Management Group) and FIPA (Foundation of Intelligent Physical Agents), and was one of the co-authors of the first agent technology standard – the OMG-MASIF (Mobile Agent System Interoperability Facility).


He has extensive experience in the management of a variety of projects and study contracts for the European Commission, German Agencies (BMBF, BMWF) and other industrial national and international organisations in the areas of IT and telecommunication networks and services. His recent work is in the areas of next generation networks infrastructures and service delivery platforms for the Future Internet with a focus on interoperability and management solutions.


He is member of the Architectural Board of the European Future Internet Public-Private Partnership (Fi-PPP) and technical coordinator of the FI-STAR project – applying Future Internet technology in the Healthcare sector. He is the technical coordinator of the DAAD – UNIFI project enabling future internet academic teaching and research in developing countries. He has published over 90 papers and was chair or member of the program committee of many international conferences.


Eduardo Duran -Head Innovation & Trends Corporate & TI, Entel S.A., Chile

Eduardo Duran received his MBA in 1998 from Adolfo Ibañez University and holds Diploma for Electronic and Telecom Engineer from Santiago University, Chile. Currently he works at Entel S.A, he responsibles for Technology strategic planning and innovation process. Eduardo has a high concern within his position now and focus on the technology evolution trend for the new business model and for the innovation process into the organization.

His previous experiences scope of telecommunications experience and functional responsibilities was in Strategic Planning (1997-2000) of developing the “strategic technology position” for the future and innovative services. In 1997 Eduardo was also Chief Project Engineer at Project telecom execution around the country and other country


Dr. Thomas Haustein - Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), Germany

Thomas Haustein received the Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.) degree in mobile communications from the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, in 2006. In 1997, he was with the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), Berlin, where he worked on wireless infrared systems and radio communications with multiple antennas and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing. He focused on real-time algorithms for baseband processing and advanced multiuser resource allocation. In 2006, he was with Nokia Siemens Networks, where he conducted research for Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and LTE-advanced. He is currently the Head of the Broadband Mobile Communications Department, HHI.


Piyush Jain - Senior Manager, TMT Strategy, Singapore

Piyush is a Senior Manager in Deloitte’s corporate and competitive strategy practice with an Industry focus on Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT). He has 11 years experience serving clients across South East Asia , US and India on engagements related to Growth and market entry strategy, M&A target screening and commercial due diligence, spectrum auction strategy and large scale program management.



J.H. Kah - President SK Planet International

As President of SK Planet International, J.H. is responsible for global operations and new business initiatives for SK Planet including South East Asian market, Japan and Turkey. Previously, he was the head of Core Platform Management at SK Planet, where he oversaw SK Planet’s platform business including T Store, one of the largest independent application marketplaces. Before that J.H. was head of Growth Strategy where he spearheaded SK Planet’s expansion strategy as well as global business and corporate development initiatives, including setting up e-commerce joint ventures in Turkey and Indonesia. Prior to joining SK Planet, he was in charge of SK Telecom’s enterprise solution business. J.H. also headed business development and corporate venture capital at SK Telecom Americas, a subsidiary of SK Telecom, and global corporate development and data business strategy at SK Telecom. Before joining SK Telecom, he was EVP at SK Communications, an internet portal subsidiary of SK Telecom. He also served as CEO of Lycos Korea until it merged with SK Communications. In the 1990s, J.H. worked as an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Meagher and Flom LLP, specializing in M&A and corporate finance in the telecommunication and technology sector. J.H. holds a JD from New York University, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and a BA in Business Administration from Yonsei University in Korea.



Eiji KawaiDirector of Network Testbed Research and Development Laboratory, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), Japan

Eiji Kawai received Ph.D. from Nara Institute of Science and Technology in 2001. He worked on operating system technology, Internet technology, performance evaluation technology, and virtualization technology for many years. Since 2009, he has been working for National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, and now he is director of network testbed research and development laboratory and leading many research projects including the RISE OpenFlow/SDN testbed project.




Li KengPT FiberHome Technologies Indonesia

Li Keng is Senior Researcher Fellow of China National Key Laboratory of Optical Communication Technologies and Networks, Smart City Area. He is also editor of “International Communications Market Development Practices”, which published by Beijing Posts and Telecommunication Press. He was leader in research team of various state funding telecommunication project. Li Keng holds Master of Engineering from Xi’a Jiaotong University at School of Electronic and Information Engineering. Li Keng works since 2011 at FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies Co., LTD and now he acts as Chief Engineer of Strategies and Marketing Department, whose responsible for the research of the company’s new direction (Smart City).



Deoknyong Ko - Manager, Broadband Tech Lab, Network Technology & R&D Center, SKteleco

Deoknyong Ko is a manager of Broadband Tech Lab, Network Technology R&D Center in the SKtelecom. He received the B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from Konkuk University, Seoul, Korean in 2006 and the M.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Korea in 2008.


He has worked at SKtelecom/SKbroadband since 2008. He published an “Understanding IPv6 Network” in 2013. He was elected for vice president in IoT Networking Project Group of TTA(Telecommunications Technology Association), Korea. His research includes applying IPv6 for LTE/Broadband, IPv6 Security and Optical Access Network (G-PON, NG-PON2, etc).


Patrick Lavielle - Head of Services and Networks Control for Orange Corporate

Patrick holds his Master of Science IT from Liverpool, UK and Bachelor in Telecom in France, Paris. His current position is Head of Services and Networks Control for Orange Corporate. Previously he was involved in Network Project Manager for Tamin Telecom Iran and for Orange Tunisia. Besides, he has experiences includes in Sofrecom Networks and Services Mobile Director, Head of Orange Labs for FTTH and Home Networking. Patrick also managed to served as CIO for Orange Botswana, Cameroon and Moldova, Head of Network for France Telecom - China Unicom Joint Venturre in Guangzhao, Head of Radio campaigns for France Telecom R&D, Support Digital switching engineer to Sri Lanka Telecom and Head of O&M Digital switching centre for France Telecom Paris Raspail.


Naveen Menon - Partner & Head Communications, Media and Technology Practice (Asia Pacific) A.T. Kearney

Naveen leads the Communications, Media and Technology (CMT) practice for A.T. Kearney in Asia Pacific. He has been a consultant with A.T. Kearney since 1999 and has been based in Singapore, London, Brussels and Amsterdam.

He has served mobile and fixed operators, internet services, media companies and the public sector across Asia and Europe on a broad range of CMT topics, including: mobile broadband strategy, digital services growth, media convergence, LTE strategy, cost and capital efficiency, spectrum strategy, organization and transformation. Naveen is a knowledge adviser to the World Economic Forum and his work in the area of personal data has been featured at several public and private sessions at the Annual Meeting in Davos and the Annual Meeting of New Champions in China.

His areas of expertise are in corporate & growth strategy; mergers, acquisitions and alliances advisory; performance benchmarking and organization transformation. He has represented mobile operators in several market studies and regulatory engagements for the GSM Association.

In addition to his role as CMT practice leader, Naveen is also responsible for A.T. Kearney’s Social Impact Practice. He has advised non-profits, social enterprises, industry associations and governments, on topics related to scaling up social impact business models, addressing the Base of the Pyramid needs, driving improvements in education and measuring social impact outcomes.

Prior to A.T. Kearney, Naveen worked for 2 years at General Electric Corporation where he was part of the Corporate Audit Staff and was also trained as a Six Sigma Black Belt.

Naveen has an MSc in Chemical Engineering from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) and an MBA from INSEAD (Fontainebleau/Singapore).
Vinod Nair - Senior Partner at Delta Partners, Singapore

He is based in Singapore and leads the advisory business in Asia. Vinod has over 16 years of advisory experience across multiple markets including Asia, Western Europe, UK and South Africa. He has served leading corporates as well as potential investors in the telecom and media sectors on a range of issues. His areas of focus include corporate strategy, investment assessments, customer proposition development, revenue enhancement, customer value management and business transformation. He has also played interim CXO roles during new business launches in the telecom sector.

Vinod started his career at McKinsey & Company and has also worked at Diamond Management & Technology Consultants (former DiamondCluster), OC&C Strategy Consultants and PwC UK. His advisory experience includes five years as the managing partner for Diamond’s practice in India.

Vinod is a British national of Indian origin and holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta as well as a B.Tech degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai.

Sueng-Yong Park, Ph.D. - Koren Korea

Sueng-Yong's education background is from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea (BS) and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (MS, Ph.D.). Router and Software Defined Networking expert with more than 15 years of experience from the industry (Cisco Systems, Samsung Electronics) and the academia. He is also a founding member of SDN controller and NFV company, KulCloud, Inc.


Ivan Cahya PermanaVP Technology & System, PT Telkomsel, Indonesia

He began his carrier in Telkomsel 17 years ago after graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology with Electrical Engineering background. Born in Bandung Indonesia, October 20th,1973. He also have Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert.

Joined Telkom since 1997, Ivan C. Permana has had assignments in many positions, those are, Datacomm Engineer (1997 -2003), Head of Packet Data Network Engineer(2003-2006), and GM VAS & Datacomm (2006-2010).

In 2010-2011, he became the GM NO South Sumatra Regional that Operate and Maintain Telkomsel USD 1 Mil / day revenue generator and managing deployment of 1000 BTS within 6 months in the Region. In 2012 - 2011, he assigned as Head of Service Control  that managed Design and Deploy Telkomsel Charging and Recharging System e.g. Service Control Point (SCP), Mkios, URP, Design and Deploy Telkomsel Subscribers Profile System e.g. HLR and Design Telkomsel Mobile VPN Infrastructure.

Currently, he is the Vice President Technology & System of PT Telkomsel, that responsible
for Define Telkomsel 10 years Technology Roadmap, Acquisition of new Resources and Technology e.g. Spectrum, Wind Turbine, Lithium Battery, and R&D of DNA Ecosystem and Cost Leadership.


Hammam Riza - Executive CIO / Director ICT Center BPPT, Indonesia

Dr. Ir. Hammam Riza, MSc. IPU has extensive 30 years experience in ICT, with emphasis in enterprise information system, broadband and mobile communication with in-depth experience in research, development, engineering and operation of IT system and network. He holds Doctor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, majoring Electronics and Control system. He holds position as executive Chief Information Officer and Director of Center for Information and Communication Technology (PTIK), at the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology - BPPT. Sean Ng - Solution Marketing Director in Huawei Technologies

He has over 14 years of experience and practices in telecommunication industry and possesses broad experience in NGN, IMS and ICT technologies. Currently he is working as Solution Marketing Director in Huawei Technologies based in Kuala Lumpur.




Jae Seung SongKETI (Korea Electronics Technology Institute), Assistant Professor at Sejong University, Korea

Prof. JaeSeung Song is an assistant professor in the Computer and Information Security Department at Sejong University. His research areas include IoT/M2M platforms, big data analytics and the reliability and security of networked software systems. Prior to his current position, he worked for NEC Europe Ltd, as a leading standard senior researcher worked on R&D projects and IoT/M2M standardisations from 2012 to 2013. He also worked for LG Electronics as a senior researcher from 2002 to 2008. He occupied leadership positions in 3GPP and oneM2M standard groups as a rapporteur and contributor. He received a PhD at Imperial College London in the Department of Computing, United Kingdom. He holds BS and MS in Computer Science from Sogang University.



Suhono Supangkat - Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia

Dr Suhono, was born in Yogyakarta Indonesia, 3 December 1962. He received the B.S from Department of Electrical Eng. Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Indonesia in 1986 and holds Dr. of Engineering from Graduate School of Information System the University of Electro-Communication Tokyo Japan in 1998.

From 1998-2002, He was secretary of Electrical Engineering Department Bandung Institute of Technology. During 2002-2006, he was coordinator program on Graduate School of Information Technology in ITB. Since 2000 he has been assisting some Government activities and industries, especially on Regulations and IT Governance. From 2007 till 2009 he was appointed as Special Advisor to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Republic of Indonesia. He is chairman of national task force on ICT Governance. His research interest are; Smart City, Cloud Computing, and ICT Architecture. Since 2010, He is appointed as a Head of Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development of ITB. He is founder Smart City and Community Innovation Center in ITB.


Daan Velthausz – CSIR Meraka Institute, South Africa

Daan Velthausz has a scientific background, he received his MSc (1993) and PhD (1998) in computer science (telecommunication) and has worked at KPN Research (national telecom operator), Telematica research Centre, Telematica Instituut, SURFnet and is a strategic advisor to CSIR Meraka Institute. Daan is currently employed by CSIR Meraka Institute as smart world flagship leader.

Daan has produced many national and international publications, (keynote) presentations and patents. Daan is co-founder of two companies: InVivio: (a Living Lab innovation company) and Maraxis (a strategic consultancy company). Daan has co-developed the Amsterdam Living Lab, conducts Living Lab consultancy for international customers (Barcelona, Helsinki, Pretoria, United Nations Maputo), has co-development of several European funded Living Lab, has organised (inter)national workshops and projects (EU commission, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Meraka Institute South Africa, ICT Innovation Platform Creative industry, Innovation Platform (Dutch Prime Minister)) and is a board member of the European Network of Living Labs.

Daan has worked in the Amsterdam Smart City project and participated in several European smart city projects (e.g. Fireballs), conducted extensive studies on open innovation clusters in the Netherlands & implementation guidelines for the government Developed and giving strategic courses in open innovation & service business innovation. Furthermore he accomplished strategic consultancy for higher management in acquisitions, new business development, consortia building (public private partnerships), legal & IPR, ICT developments and open innovation implementations for multiple industries (e.g. inkjet printing, functional food, electronic manufacturing, PCB manufacturing, electronic microscopy, multimedia, telecommunication, trailer axles manufacturing.
