Future Telco Ecosystem within Smart City and Beyond

Future Telco Ecosystem within Smart City and Beyond – Understanding the Change of Telco Business: Ecosystems and Business Models within a converged Telco and Internet World through Networking Technology Foundation, Service Delivery Platforms and Services Technologies Foundation

Based on the huge success of the Berlin hosted FOKUS FUSECO Forum series in the last decade and the global relevance of the addressed topics and technologies, particularly in the booming region Asia, we are proud to have the first FUSECO Forum Asia in June 2014 in the beautiful and spiritual island of Bali, Indonesia. The overall plot for this two day event is taken from the well received FOKUS FUSECO Forum.

The 1st FUSECO Forum Asia (FFAsia 2014), organised jointly by TELKOM Indonesia, Fraunhofer FOKUS and the Fraunhofer Representative Office Indonesia, and held in the Ayodya Hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali from June 9-10, 2014 is now history. With around 300 attendees from 14 countries stretching across four continents, this event exceeded the initial estimation and proofed to be a real premier international forum, discussing different technical and business aspects of emerging ecosystems within Smart Cities and beyond.

FFA was co-organized by PT Telkom Indonesia, the biggest operator of Indonesia. Indonesia is the 4th largest country of the world, with a population of 237.6 million inhabitants, and a broad range of telecommunication challenges to be mastered, providing basic and advanced telecommunication services in quite different regions, ranging from multi million megacities to 17,508s of rural islands.

Bali is one of the hotspots for prototyping innovative Smart City applications and infrastructures and thus the ideal spot for this event. It is easy to reach from most Asian Countries and even from many capital cities from the rest of the world.

Within this two day event, featuring 4 keynotes, 6 technical sessions, one vendor session, and a final panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities in the establishment of Smart Cities infrastructures as well as vendor exhibitions from Huawei, Fiberhome, ZTE and CISCO, the international attendees had many opportunities to learn about the state of the art in Smart City enabling technologies and best practices from around the globe.

In addition, the event featured in the first evening a Balinese beach party allowing the delegates to discuss arising technical and business questions in more detail and most importantly to establish new friendships.

FFAsia 2014 is now history. Around 300 people attended the first FFAsia. Event minutes can be found here. Meanwhile, the 5th FOKUS FUSECO Forum (FFF) entitled: "Cloud-based ICT Platforms and Virtualized Networks for flexible Ecosystem enablement within Smart Cities“ will take place in Berlin, Germany, on November 13-14, 2014, featuring the same topics as, but also offerening technology tutorials and interactive workshops in addition to the main conference.
